The Tale of Khacharo (A naughty boy)
Once upon a time, in a small, bustling village, there lived a mischievous boy named Khacaro. He was a lively spirit, full of energy and curiosity, traits that often led him into trouble. Khacaro lived with his Uncle Zinato and Aunt Dadiko, as his parents had tragically passed away when he was very young. Though they took him in with love, Khacaro’s antics often tested the limits of their patience.
In his mischievous ways, Khacharo was much like his uncle, and the family tried to manage his antics by leaving home. They prepared some buns in a large bucket, but Khacharo, learning of their plan, hid himself among the buns.
As they carried the heavy bucket,
Khacharo found himself needing to urinate and did so in the bucket. The family,
thinking a Pishori—a pastry filled with cheese and meat—had burst, were surprised
by the unexpected liquid. Uncle Zinato, believing it was cheese from the
Pishori, tasted it and, unknowingly, shared it with Aunt Dadiko.
From there, they reached a spot near
the peach tree where a boy perched on a branch was eating peaches. They asked
him to share, but he refused. Then, the uncle remarked, “If Khacharo was here,
he’d teach you a lesson!” Suddenly, Khacharo emerged from the bucket of buns,
exclaiming, “I’m here, Uncle! Do you want some peaches? I’ll get them for you.”
He takes a stone while hiding from
his uncle, intending to teach him a lesson. Climbing up the peach tree, he
punishes the boy and sends him down. Now, he asks his uncle, “Which one would
you like to eat?” The uncle points to a ripened one. Khacharo plucks it and
says, “Open your mouth, Uncle. I’ll throw it directly to you.” The uncle
replies, “No, give it to me in my hand.” But Khacharo insists, “No, Uncle, it’s
very soft and well-ripened. I should throw it directly into your mouth.” The
uncle opens his mouth, and Khacharo tosses the ripe peach directly into it.
The uncle selects the next peach and
asks the same question, but Khacharo convinces him to open his mouth. This
time, he throws the stone he had taken without the uncle's knowledge, causing
all the uncle's teeth to fall out.
The uncle said, “Uff, you’ve really
done it this time! The khacaro said to his uncle, “What about your plan to
leave me alone at home, intending to get rid of me?”
Moral Lesson: The story teaches us
that neglect and deceit can lead to unintended consequences. It is essential to
nurture and guide those in our care with love and understanding, rather than
resorting to abandonment or treachery.
