The Secret of Kisar-part one: The Magical Man Who Stole a Princess’s Heart

Introduction

Folklore has always carried the magic of mystery, culture, and imagination. Among the many tales passed down through generations, the story of Kisar, the man with mysterious powers, remains one of the most fascinating. It combines themes of love, destiny, tradition, and enchantment.

The king with his three princess daughters in the royal palace, preparing for marriage traditions.

This is the tale of a king, his three daughters, and how fate led the eldest princess, Langabongo, to discover the hidden beauty of a man who lived disguised as a damp wanderer.

The King and His Three Daughters

Once upon a time, in a prosperous kingdom, there lived a wise and just king. He was blessed with three beautiful daughters who were admired for their grace, elegance, and intelligence. As time passed, the princesses reached the age of marriage.

In the kingdom, there was a unique custom of choosing a groom. Instead of political alliances or arranged marriages, the princesses were given the freedom to select their husbands during a grand event organized by the king.

The tradition was simple yet unusual:

  • The king would call upon all eligible men from across the kingdom.

  • A music and dance concert would be arranged.

  • During the dance, each princess had to select her partner by sitting on his lap.

This unusual custom had been part of the kingdom for generations, and people eagerly awaited the day when the princesses would make their choices.

The Princesses in the Orchard

Before the royal concert was to be held, the three princesses decided to visit the orchards near the palace for leisure and entertainment. They were enjoying the lush gardens when suddenly, dark clouds gathered and heavy rain began to fall.

In search of shelter, the princesses found a small hut. Inside lived a strange, damp-looking man known throughout the kingdom as Kisar. He was thought of as poor, dirty, and unworthy of attention. Yet, little did anyone know, he possessed a secret.

The rain continued to pour, and the princesses, exhausted, fell asleep in the safety of the hut.

The Hidden Beauty of Kisar

Late in the night, the eldest princess, Langabongo, woke up. To her surprise, she saw not a damp and ragged man but a handsome figure glowing with mysterious beauty.

Princess Langabongo secretly sees the true hidden beauty of Kisar at night.

Unbeknownst to her, Kisar had the power to change his form. He lived disguised as a damp wanderer but, in truth, possessed enchanting charm. When he noticed Langabongo staring, he quickly transformed back into his shabby disguise.

But the glimpse was enough—Langabongo’s heart was captivated. She fell in love with the mysterious beauty hidden within Kisar.

The Day of Selection

Soon, the long-awaited day arrived. The king organized the grand concert where all men of the kingdom gathered to be chosen by the princesses.

  • The youngest princess danced gracefully and, after some time, sat in the lap of the king’s president. She chose him as her husband, and the court celebrated their union.

  • The second princess danced and chose the chief of the king’s court as her partner. Once again, the crowd rejoiced at her decision.

Now all eyes turned to the eldest princess, Langabongo. Everyone wondered whom she would choose. But she danced without sitting on anyone’s lap. Her heart longed only for Kisar, yet he was nowhere to be seen.

The concert ended, and confusion spread. The king asked his guards:
“Has every man in the kingdom attended?”

The guards replied:
“Yes, my lord. All except one—the damp man, Kisar.”

The king, bound by tradition, ordered:
“Bring him here as well. None must be left out.”

The Choice of Langabongo

The guards brought Kisar, who appeared in his usual damp disguise. People laughed at the thought of the princess even glancing at him.

But when the music began and Langabongo started dancing, she moved with determination. To everyone’s shock, she went directly to Kisar and sat in his lap.

Princess Langabongo chooses Kisar as her husband, stunning the kingdom.

The court gasped in disbelief. The king was astonished, yet he respected the custom. Thus, Langabongo was married to Kisar.

No one in the kingdom knew about Kisar’s hidden beauty—only Langabongo had seen it.

The Secret Revealed

Life after marriage was unusual for Langabongo. She constantly begged Kisar to remain in his real, handsome form. But Kisar refused, insisting that his disguise was necessary.

Still, Langabongo’s curiosity grew. One winter night, she lit a huge fire in their chamber. Pretending to sleep, she secretly watched Kisar.

Believing she was asleep, Kisar removed his mask of dampness and placed it beside his pillow. The room filled with his true radiance.

Seizing the moment, Langabongo leapt forward, grabbed the mask, and threw it into the fire.

Princess Langabongo throws away Kisar’s mysterious mask into the fire, breaking his disguise forever.

Kisar shouted, “No! Do not destroy it!”
But it was too late—the mask was gone.

From that day forward, Kisar could never return to his damp form again. His secret was revealed, and he remained in his true, enchanting beauty.
